Lisk's Heritage Farm
Our farm was established in 1946 by my grandparents. My Grandfather, Carl Lisk, was a US Army Veteran and POW of WWII. Up until his death in 1972, he farmed beef and some dairy. After his death, the farm sat mostly idle for the next 40 yrs with the exception of a few animals (pets). We took over the farm in 2013 after I retired from the US Army and began the transformation back to a working farm. We added a new 40x64 ft barn, started to remodel the old barn, added pastures/fences, built stalls for horses, pigs, cows and sheep. We also added 2 chicken coops and raise almost 70 chickens for eggs. Lisk’s Heritage Farm raises predominately heritage breed animals. We chose this due to the uniqueness of the animals and a way of preserving their species.
Our farm is a family owned farm located outside Linesville, PA and minutes from Pymatuning Lake in Crawford County, PA. We follow organic and sustainable agriculture practices. We specialize in raw honey, NON-GMO, antibiotic and hormone free beef, eggs, chicken and turkey. We offer NON-GMO pork, but due to the cost of NON-GMO pork feed, it is not cost effective. We are currently looking at the possibility of growing our own feed. Our pig feed is milled from locally grown corn and soybeans.
Our beef are Belted Galloways, initially from Scotland, which are smaller in size and are more efficient on pasture. They are given a small amount of NON-GMO feed and chopped alfalfa twice a day for a "Treat". The chickens we raise are also fed a NON-GMO feed. Our egg layers are Rhode Island Reds and we have Cornish cross meat birds that have been averaging 6-7 lbs after processing at 8 wks of age. We are running 23 Honey bee hives this year and plan on increasing that number next year.
